Abstract

The urgency of the study is due to the need to analyze the stages of institutional history of the Ukrainian Free University (UVU) in the format of personalities and institutionalization of the archive, this unique educational, scientific and cultural institution. The purpose of the publication is to reveal the progressive nature and features of the institutional model of UVU for the study of the institutional history of Ukrainians and its education, culture and science in world and European discourses. The main mission of the Ukrainian Free University is to support the integration of Ukrainian education and science in the public space, as well as the priority of issues related to the preservation of the national identity of Ukrainians. The article emphasizes the methods of research, which has an interdisciplinary nature and is based on important cognitive principles: science and historicism. The use of various general and special methods allowed to determine the trajectory of scientific research for the real reconstruction of historical and contemporary events in the institutionalization of education and science at UVU. The institutional history of formation of traditions and modern model of the Ukrainian Free University in the globalized world is considered, as well as the archival institution as an important system-forming component of the University, its policy of memory and resource-information support. All three stages of the institutional history of the Ukrainian Free University (Vienna, Prague, Munich) in the period 1921-2021 were and remain a priority for the Ukrainian diaspora and foreign Ukrainians in education, science and culture. Innovative approaches in the activities of the Ukrainian Free University have led to new areas of international cooperation and internationalization of education – the introduction of tools for educational and scientific diplomacy, development of Ukrainian science and education abroad, Ukrainian diaspora, institutional diaspora in general. During all periods of its institutional activity, the Ukrainian Free University has been on the defense and in the institutional fairway of Ukrainian education, science and culture. UVU consolidated around itself educational diplomacy and scientific diplomacy of the Ukrainian diaspora and foreign Ukrainians. The institutional history of the Ukrainian Free University (UVU) is closely linked to institutional diasporalogy and diaspora diplomacy, and contributes to their development and dissemination throughout the world, where Ukrainians live abroad
