Abstract.

The article analyses the international and legal consequences of the foreign politics of Ukraine during the presidency of Petro Poroshenko, his psychological characteristic is provided and an attempt is made to show how the positive or negative traits of character of the fifth president influenced on making decisions in foreign policy. It is noted that the positive sides in the foreign policy activities of the fifth president include the fact that under the leadership of Petro Poroshenko Ukraine returned to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. An Association Agreement was signed between Ukraine on one hand, and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States on the other, enabling the parties to move from partnership and cooperation to political association and economic integration. Acquisition by Ukraine of visa-free regime with Schengen countries. Ukrainians who have biometric passports can travel to EU countries for business, tourism or family purposes for the term up to 90 days during 180-day period. Mr. Poroshenko was able to build a system of relations in the surrounding world. This is evidenced by his good relations with the key persons of the leading countries of the world, namely: German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of France Emmanuel Macron, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The list of presidential victories includes intensification of bilateral relations with a number of states. In particular, with Germany (which is very important against the background of the uncertainty regarding United States), Turkey and Romania, and maintaining the EU and the US sanctions against Russia. At the same time, relations with neighbouring countries, first of all with the Russian Federation, have significantly deteriorated. The annexation of Crimea, Donbas war, trade wars, information aggression from the Russian Federation, this is an incomplete list of problems in Ukrainian-Russian relations. Against the background of hostilities, trade relations between Ukraine and Russia have deteriorated significantly. The parties denounced a number of trade agreements and imposed sanctions. Since 2015, Ukraine has stopped buying Russian gas and the volume of trade between the countries has actually collapsed. A number of security and defense agreements have also been cancelled, and the Verkhovna Rada has recognized Russia as an aggressor country. Relations with Hungary, Poland deteriorated significantly. Relations with Slovakia, Romania and Moldova have become practically in a state of stagnation. During the presidency of Petro Poroshenko Ukraine achieved the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Instead, the international authority of the state in the world continued to drop due to rising corruption, violation of human rights, and impoverishment of people.
