The Embassy of Ukraine in Serbia stressed that Ukraine does not interfere in the internal affairs of Serbia and called unacceptable the attempts of some Serbian politicians to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine.
According to European Truth, the diplomatic mission issued a statement on Monday, July 13.
The reason was the words of the mayor of Voždovac, Aleksandar Savić, who mentioned the "Ukrainian scenario" in a negative light, speaking about the current protests in Serbia.
"The Embassy of Ukraine in Serbia once again officially states that Ukraine does not interfere in the internal political situation in the Republic of Serbia in any way. At the same time, the embassy considers unacceptable attempts to interfere in Ukraine's internal affairs, in particular , by any foreign officials - including the mayor of Voždovac.
We are honored to remind Alexander Stavich that what he contemptuously calls the "Ukrainian scenario" was the struggle of Ukrainians for their rights against a corrupt authoritarian government. This is the European choice of most Ukrainians, for which they paid a high price. Any assessment of this choice, positive or negative, should be given exclusively by Ukrainians themselves, not by foreign politicians, "the statement said.
The embassy adds that it is surprised to hear criticism of Ukraine's European choice from an official of the political force leading Serbia to the EU.
It will be recalled that last week the Ukrainian embassy in Serbia denied information about the involvement of Ukraine or its citizens in the protests in Belgrade, after some Serbian media wrote about the participation of "mercenaries from Ukraine" in the protests.
