The US government has accused state-backed Russian hackers of attacking dozens of state and local government networks in recent weeks.
This is stated in a statement issued on October 22 by the FBI and the Agency for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security (CISA), according to "European Truth" with reference to RFE / RL.
The agencies said there were no signs to date that the hackers had disrupted aviation, educational, election or government agencies.
However, they could seek access to gain opportunities for future failures and influence U.S. policies and actions or delegitimize state and local governments, the statement said.
The message does not mention who became the target of attacks. It is said that the campaign was directed against "a wide range of US goals."
The attacks were carried out by hackers known as Berserk Bear, Energetic Bear, Dragonfly and others. They successfully hacked the network infrastructure and stole data from at least two servers.
The hacker attacks became less than two weeks before the November 3 election.
The day before, US intelligence services accused Iran and Russia of trying to use voter data to wreak havoc on the election. Iran and Russia have denied the allegations.
